Emerging from the Chrysalis (2001-2002)

The 'Emerging from the Chrysalis' research project explored the issues surrounding D/deafness and exclusion.  This project focused specifically on the employment and further education experiences of the D/deaf and hard of hearing community in Cheshire and Warrington. This research was undertaken by Jennifer Dodds with Graham H Turner at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) on behalf of Deafness Support Network.
The research identified that D/deaf and hard of hearing people often experience linguistic exclusion in both education and employment settings. In addition to this, the everyday lives and experiences of the interviewees were often affected by a general lack of Deaf awareness.

Copies of the report are available for £5 including postage and packing.  If you would like a copy, please contact Deafness Support Network: dsn@deafnesssupportnetwork.co.uk
