After Deaf Studies was established at Uclan in 1993, Mark joined the team in December of that year alongside Lynne Barnes (Subject Leader), to take this emerging subject forward.  Since then they have seen Deaf Studies grow and the team of staff increase to include colleagues from all over Britain and abroad.

Mark is proud of the many graduates that the team has helped succeed over the years from the various courses that we run within Deaf Studies which include;  BA (Hons) Deaf Studies, BA(Hons) BSL, Graduate Diploma in BSL and Communication Studies and Postgraduate Diploma in BSL\English Interpreting.  Mark has seen an increase in the number of students studying sign language and a rise in the level of BSL on offer, to the extent that he is now Course Tutor for the BA (Hons) in British Sign Language.
