Junhui is a lecturer in Deaf Studies. She received a PhD in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University in 2006. During her post-graduate studies, she taught pedagogy and sign language courses at Gallaudet University and NTID/RIT. She also worked as a Chinese Sign Language researcher in the Sign Language Typology Group at the Max-Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmgen, Netherlands for 1 year. Her research interests includes the structure of signed languages, language contact between signed language and oral/written language, bilingual education of deaf students, and historical socio-cultural studies of Deaf communities.
