In addition to my role as cohort tutor on the PG Dip BSL/ English Interpreting course I also work as a sign language interpreter in the East Midlands area. I work two days a week as a freelance interpreter, mainly in office/ access to work settings. The other three days a week I am employed by Nottinghamshire Deaf Society, as line manager for their Welfare Rights Project and as a member of the Sign Language Interpreting team. I am currently undertaking a part-time MPhil/ PhD research project at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, examining the impact and implications of sign language interpreters in workplace settings.
