After what truly seems a lifetime teaching English in Adult Education, and a couple of years dabbling in freelance translation and language support with Deaf BSL users, Crissie joined the Deaf Studies team in 2000 as Staff Translator. A qualified teacher and graduate in Education and Curriculum Theory many years ago, Crissie gained her MA from Lancaster University’s Department of Linguistics in 1993, her specialist study being the writing of Deaf adult BSL users. Now she uses her knowledge and experience to deal with text-translation with the team. In her spare time she enjoys bird watching, growing organic vegetables, and pottering about aimlessly.
